2023 Ramato Pinot Gris
We are excited to share our new vintage of Ramato Pinot Gris made with fruit grown at Newton Creek Vineyard, just a few miles north of our winery in Philomath. Compton Family Wines Ramato offers a refreshing twist on a familiar favorite grape of the Willamette Valley. The name “Ramato” comes from Northeastern Italy where Pinot Grigio (the same grape as Pinot Gris) is handled like a red wine grape. Our Pinot Gris is harvested and allowed to sit whole-cluster to start fermenting on the skins, creating a lovely auburn hued wine. Compton Ramato was aged in neutral oak barrels and has a balance of subtle sweetness and savory earthiness.
Production notes
whole cluster fermentaion, aged in neutral oak, full malolactic
